S'pore Day 5-6 National Day

Papa worked hard and definitely deserved this short work+vacation.

This is the house mama grew up in since she was 10.

I felt that papa didn't want to head off to the airport. I wished he took more days off.

 Late that night, we headed to the local market for some durian, freshly cut.

From butter creamy to bitter creamy... make your request at this 24/7 fruit market

 Finally awake from a short nap, rambutans!

 Mountains of durians surrounded us, I tasted some durian & wanted MORE!

 Ring Ding Ding, it's Singapore's 47th Birthday

 Bride-to-be Meilina came to visit and we set off to the botanical gardens

It was filled with people on this public holiday. People had picnics with dogs & kids & frisbee!

 Our poor dogs must be feeling so lonely while we are in S'pore

 We walked and walked, from the botanical gardens to orchard road

 2 hours of walking, well, being pushed in the stroller kept me singing while I people watched.

Mama had a good national day celebration meal with grandpa & grandma @ the long missed California Pizza Kitchen while I snoozed!

S'pore Day 3-4

Papa is off to work & I begin my day crawling. We stayed home on day 3, crawled, slept, did some bird watching and played the piano.

Day 4- We're out with grandpa, grandma to run some errands around town. Papa is off to work again, and he'll be heading back to taiwan the next day.

 I hung out with mama in the lobby while grandpa & grandma had a meeting.

Did some crawling, nursing & magazine reading while we waited.

We've been hopping on and off cars and cabs since we arrived.

 1st ride on the singapore MRT

 Mama & I hung around the optician for almost 2 hours while Grandpa and grandma got new glasses.

 I napped and was in a great mood when we visited Raffles hotel

 Papa came over to meet us after work! Mama took us to Chjmes

 It's a quaint church, bringing back middle school memories of mama.
They were shooting a movie in there while we visited!

Papa is done with his assignment in Singapore and to celebrate, uncle Kevin took papa and his co-worker out for a late night supper.  

S'pore Day 2

It's been days, more than a week since we got back to taipei. We've been heading out everyday... stay-at-home mama is not home and mama never gets a chance to sit down and start writing only until I'm sleeping. It's mama's only free time now.  

Back to Day 2 in Singapore. 

It's the President's open house by the famous shopping street, Orchard Road. Mama has been to the Istana when she was probably in elementary school.

As we passed the gate, we expected to see the presidents house right away! But it was green everywhere, people were having picnics, children playing ball, painting away... we walked further in

 We finally reached the Istana, bought a ticket to enter the building! Gifts from various countries were displayed, the chandeliers hanging caught my attention the most. Sorry no pictures allowed! 

 Boy, it was hot & humid. We cooled down a little being inside the Istana. Despite the heat, Mama loves the trees and being out in the sun.  

 Singapore crest " Majulah Singapura"

 Mama sang the National anthem " Majulah Singapura" in Malay every morning before school begins. Papa said he never sang the anthem since he's a foreigner.

We've been eating at food centers since we touched down. Finally, a seat of my own!

 Spotted a trolley down on orchard road!

 It's only been a year mama visited Singapore while 4 months pregnant and she spotted newly renovated buildings. Even Singaporeans say they can't keep up with the constant change!

 Papa & his co-worker continued their tour around Singapore while grandpa, grandma and mama shopped around and headed home to rest. I slept while mama shopped and mama couldn't rest when we got home! 

S'pore Day 1

It's Saturday morning and we're off to the local hawker center for Adam road's well-known 

Nasi Lemak while Miya takes her morning nap.

 Kevin & Eileen are on the top of our must-meet friends list. Of course, they have to meet Miya and take us all out for the best of the best food in S'pore on old airport road.

 Miya fell in love with riding the bike, well, pushed around Kevin & Eileen's apartment.

S'pore will be celebrating their 47th birthday Aug 9th and uncle Kevin's plan was to take us out in the evening, when it's much cooler and watch a sneak preview of the fireworks!

Had a great view of SANDS and the new gardens by the bay from the marina barrage.

 Visited one of the conservatories "the cloud forest",  cooled replica of a tropical mountain.

 The elevator took us to the mountain top and we walked down the circular pathways, alongside with the waterfall. 

 Super trees  lit up as the night approaches, using the energy conserved from daylight

 Fireworks by the marina bay SANDS was amazing, although Miya didn't enjoy the explosion, mama enjoyed the fireworks while breastfeeding. 

Flight #1 to Singapore

Our flight was cancelled due to the typhoon but we were still able to book tickets for the next day! Grandpa will also be on the same flight to S'pore!

 Everything was priority, priority access through immigration, priority baggages, priority boarding! Take off went smoothly while Miya napped. 

Miya's eyes lit up when she woke up and we were already up in the air!

 It's time for some inflight entertainment & snacks

 4hrs 30 mins flew by. Despite all the movie pausing and rewinding, Mama managed to finish a movie! Miya spent the 30 mins before landing in the Ergo and it was a perfect landing. She napped again, no crying at all on her 1st flight!
